Stockholm: Soothing Your Eyes

Author: Vivek Kuriyal
Sweden's beautiful capital Stockholm deserves full appreciation for entertaining every tourist out there. The spectacular waterways and parks fascinate everyone passing by. Filled with unparalleled attractions, this capital city relaxes your mind in many ways. Spending a week long vacation in the city is quite affordable and hardly anyone feels like returning home once he or she is here.

People from diverse backgrounds and regions are the residents of the city. More than 15% of the population is of immigrants. You will come across people speaking different languages from polish to Japanese in the streets of Stockholm, Sweden. Summer is the most favorable time to visit this city because the weather is generally mild and sunny. Winter is cold, dark and of course, snowy.

Most of the streets have a number of museums and art galleries to explore. Strolling around the streets in the medieval section of Gamla Stan is a stunning experience. Generally this city can be explored on foot. However, to experience the watery nature and Islands you need to move on a boat. To name some of the museums: Vasa Museum has some thing very special (the restored ship of 1628) for you. Skansen is another open air museum that features 150 old houses.

Out of many historical heritages, Riddarbolm church and Drottningholm palace are worth visiting places in the town. Riddarbolm church is the second oldest church in Stockholm. Inside the Drottininghon Palace, there is an 18th century theatre where opera performances can be enjoyed throughout the season. You cannot afford to miss out on the Nordic Museum and City Hall'a 20th century architectural excellence.
