The Internet is filled with small home-based business marketing web sites. Many of these web sites have cheesy come-ons and sales gimmicks. It is unfortunate that people do this because it makes the Internet looked cheap and full of worthless information attempting to trap low IQ individuals into investing money or buying marketing plans for their existing businesses. I have an observation. And that is when someone uses EVERY marketing and sales trick in the book, when does it become to salesy? When does it turn into a virtual circus? At what point do the smart and sophisticated best customers turn it off and click out? How much flashing lights, tricky little tactics and marketing tactics can one take, before it looks like all SHOW and No GO! The reason I ask, is I keep seeing the SAME OLD online marketing tactics, perhaps because they work and everyone copies everyone else instead of thinking and coming up with something new. Once this happens they all look fake. It seems rather unfortunate that so many of these cheaply designed web sites are littering the Internet and luring people into purchasing worthless advice from them. It is almost getting to the point of a lack of integrity on all the people that have these types of web sites. Most of them, tend to market the same way. Although I am not for increased regulation of such things and believe the free market should prevail. I do question those people who put up such web sites and furthermore believe the answer is educating the public. The only problem is that a large percentage of the population are falling for these web sites and gimmicks and that poses a question about the dummying down effect and what that means to the future of American business. Please consider this in 2006. |
