Hurricane Gamma; Poor Western Cuba

Author: Lance Winslow

Tropical Depression, now a Tropical Storm Gamma looks as if it will make a right turn like Hurricane Wilma. The question now is will Tropical Storm Gamma make Hurricane Status? Some meteorologists say yes indeed it will, while others are not so sure pointing to a sheering effect of Northeasterly airflows. Whether it makes a low category hurricane or not, one thing is for sure and that is Cuba is going to get soaked, especially Western Cuba, which was hit with massive torrential rains from Hurricane Wilma.

Next up to bat we have Tropical Storm Delta and Tropical Storm Epsilon in the Greek Alphabet, which will be late end of season storms if and when they form. If you will recall our Tropical Storm Season in 2005 started two-weeks early and one has to ask the question are the waters in the Caribbean warm enough to extend the end of the Tropical Hurricane Season by two-weeks. If so that would take us well into the middle of December.

Most folks agree that they have had enough of this Hurricane Season and they just want it to go away after three of the most ferocious Category Hurricanes in History and the most named storms and Hurricanes in the history of our record keeping. Indeed, it still is not over and one has to be thinking ahead and asking what happens next year in 2006, will it be more of the same? Will this trend continue and how much more of this can we take? Think on it.
