We are told in 2 Corinthians 3:18 that God's Word gives us a clear picture of who we are and what we have been promised. When we look into that mirror we actually see the real reflection and as we do it more we become more and more like Jesus. That is our goal. There are many times that people try and try to follow all of a list of rules. They think Christianity is too difficult and give up trying. God loves us so much that He's made it easy for us to change for the better. His word is our mirror of the reality of how He sees us, not how we do. It's nice, and hard to believe sometimes, that someone thinks good things about us. We might not even like ourselves all the time. The amazing and awesome thing is that God sees us differently. In His Word He describes who we are. In Jesus we are His children. We are heirs to the promises that He gave us. To see the real image ourselves we're to read what He's said. The word "followers" in the verse from the Greek language means to "mimic". If you've ever watched young kids and compared them to their parents, you'll see how they imitate them in a lot of ways. God designed this and wants us as His children to do the same. We're to mimic God... He is love
(1John 4:8). That can be an overwheming thought! It can easily be taken as a list of do's and don'ts. In the physical realm it's really impossible to do a good job of that all the time! But in the spiritual realm God already did this for us! When we look to Jesus and keep our eyes on Him we see changes in ourselves taking place with little effort on our parts. He changes us into the reality that He sees in us! Keep your focus on reality! Live in God's Word... It'll stay the same forever!
