Acne is something that no one wants to have to deal with but unfortunately millions and millions of women do. If you have acne or have suffered from it in the past then you know how painful this affliction can be. And I am not just talking about the physical pain, I am talking about the emotional pain as well. Feeling embarrassed to leave the house because your face has broken out in acne is a terrible situation for most women and feeling like you have to hide is never something to relish. For years and years people assumed that acne was suffered only by dirty people, people who did not believe in good hygiene. Thank goodness that science has put this myth to rest once and for all. Even the cleanest people in the world can get acne. In fact if you wash your face too much you are more inclined to get it rather than less inclines to. By stripping your face of all the oils you are actually causing the skin to overproduce oil to replace what has been stripped away. This can lead to an acne outbreak.

If you already have a dermatologist then make an appointment with him or her. They are the ones that will be able to help you the most when it comes to your acne troubles.
Most doctors will ask you what has and has not worked for you in the past. They may want to put you on some antibiotics. This is especially important to do if you have cystic acne or acne that is made up of many pustules under the skin. These infections can lead to serious scarring if not taken care of the right way. Antibiotics can get right in there and fight the infections from the root helping your skin to heal the right way.
Just make sure that you do not take these antibiotics any longer than you need to because they are not good for you in the long run. They can cause your teeth to change color and that is never a good thing. Talk to your doctor about the appropriate amount of time to be on any medication before you start taking them.
If you have not yet tried any topical treatments for your acne then ask the doctor about these as well. There are many topical treatments that are put onto the skin that have done wonders for millions of people. Find out about these and give a few a try. If one does not work do not get discouraged, it does not mean that others wont work. Every womans skin is different and it may take a little trial and error to find what is right for you. |
