Skin Care Tips for Oily Skin

Author: Jerrick Foo

Sometime, some of us have very oily skin -- so oily that it shines!

Here are some tips I've learned over the years for skin care and make-up:

Only use oil-free foundations, powder blushers and powder eyeshadows. Apply foundation on freshly washed skin -- apply over eyelids and lips. A base of foundation on eyelids and lips will help eye shadow and lipstick stay on longer.

To help control the oil, wash your face with mild soap and water 2-3 times a day (if you are at home).

If you are not at home, carry baby wipes (for sensitive skin) in your purse and clean your face with a baby wipe -- then re-apply make-up. Use a drying facial masque at least once a week. Place hot, steamy washcloths on your face before applying the masque to open pores. This will help the masque "deep clean" your pores.

Only use oil-free moisturizer for sensitive skin at bedtime. If you want to dry up oil on top of make-up -- lightly dab your face with toilet tissue. The toilet tissue will soak-up the oil without removing your make-up.

To cover up a blemish, after you apply foundation, apply a tiny amount of under-eye concealer to your fingertip and lightly dab the blemish until it disappears.

I would recommend you to use Witch Hazel (available in drug stores) as an inexpensive astringent. You can also dab Witch Hazel on you scalp with a cotton ball to dry up the oil on your scalp. Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water a day to help control breakouts.
