Play Roulette and Win - Part 2

To play roulette to maximize your profit you need to play the wheel with the best odds and place the best bets and here we will show you how.

We have already told you the rules to play roulette in part 1, so let's look at the bets.

The House Edge European & American Wheels

The European wheel has 37 slots with a single 0; the American version has an extra slot 00 to making 38.

The house edge is 2.7% For European and 5.26% for the American table.

Always therefore play European roulette.

The Payouts

Below are some common bets and their payouts.

Single Number: Any number on the table. Payout odds 35:1

2Number (Split): A bet on the line dividing two adjoining numbers on the table. When this bet is placed, you are betting that on of the two numbers will come up. Payout odds 17:1

3Number (Across): A bet on any 3 adjoining numbers on a table. To place this bet, place your chips on the line to the left of the first number in the series. Payout odds 11:1

4Number (Corner): A bet on four numbers whose position on the table make a square. To place this bet, place your chips on the line in the center of the square. Payout odds 8:1

6Number (Across): A bet on six numbers made up of two rows of three numbers each. To place this bet, place your chips on the line to the left of the first number in the series and between the two rows of numbers. Payout odds 5:1

Section (12 Numbers): There are three different ways to make this bet. You can either bet that the number that comes up will be "1st 12", "2nd 12" or "3rd 12". The number will be in the first group of 12 numbers (112), the second group (1324) or the third group (2536). None of these groups include the "0" or "00". Payout odds 2:1

Column (12 Numbers): There are three different ways to make this bet and they are.

You can bet that the number that comes up will be in the first column (1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, 28, 31, 34), second (2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, 29, 32, 35) third (3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36). Payout odds 2:1

118 or 1936: You can bet on whether the number that comes up will be between 1 and 18 or 19 and 36.

These bets include 0 and 00. Payout odds 1:1 Odd or Even: You bet on odd or even number coming up. These bets include the "0" or "00"

2. Payout Odds 1:1

Color (Red or Black): You bet on red or black coming up. These bets include "0" or "00" since these numbers are green. Payout odds 1:1

Worst Odds

The bets to steer clear of are all single number bets and the five number bet (only found on double zero wheels)

The reason these types of bets have such large disparities between odds chances of winning

The worst bet of all is the five number bet, it's got the worst odds of any bet.

Best Odds

Bets whose odds are close to their payouts.

These "even money" bets include betting on Even, Odd, Low (numbers 1 through 18), High (numbers 19 through 36), Red, or Black. These bets payout odds of 1 : 1.

You can play these bets a long time with a small bankroll. With these bets you'll find your odds of winning are just under 50%, making this a very good way to bet.

The Best Bet on the table

The bet with the best odds is even money bet where your bet can be imprisoned 'en prison.' (also called surrender ) is available on European tables.

If you make an even money bet and the ball lands on zero, the croupier doesn't take in your wager.

Your bet is 'imprisoned' i.e held hostage, and you go to the next spin.

If your bet wins, you can remove it from the table.

This bet cuts the house edge on even money bets in half, down to 1.35%. This makes it the best bet on a roulette table to play.
